...Dream land...

Well, this morning I woke up feeling special. I had a dream that the lead singer of The Shins (one of my favorite bands) and I were talking and just hanging out. I had gone to one of his concerts (in real life) and he was asking me why all the girls scream (which is funny...because girls don't really scream for him...or The Shins really). I told him that it was because his lyrics are so well put and thought out, and that his melody lines are genious and because when you watch him sing...it's really intense. Ask Kim, she will verify how intense he is when he sings. What is funny about all this is that girls who like The Shins wouldn't be screamers...and girls who are screamers don't get excited about well thought out lyrics and beautifully creative melody lines. He's not Michael Jackson. Maybe they would over his intensity...but it just made me stare at him with curiousity rather than scream. I guess if I was a screamer those things would make me scream...but I am not a screamer, thankfully. Something to be greatful for.

This is a picture of The Shins playing Bingo. James Mercer (lead singer and the star of my dream) is the second one in from the left...notice the intensity.

The end of an Era...

I love this picture of President Hinckley. I am sure going to miss him and his upbeat personality. I will miss seeing him beem with life at his old age and thinking "I hope I am that happy when I get old." Odds are against me. I complain about anything that kind of hurts, or kind of bugs me...I need to work on that. When Tyler and I found out about his passing last night we just sat there. It was hard to believe it had actually happened, even though we all were surprised every 6 months when he stood at the pulpit. What an example of everything he was. I think I like his sincerity and ability to be optimistic the most.

It is strange to think of another man being the President of the church. President Hickley is the only Prophet I can remember hearing in my life time so far. I felt close to him, even though I had never actually met him, but I felt he cared for me individually. I know I will be just as fond as the next called Prophet as I am of President Hinckley, but he will be missed. It seems like there has been so much change in the First Presidency and the Apostles, but yet the church stays the same. It is so great that we never have to worry about the truly important things changing. What a comfort that is.

I miss my mommy

10 THINGS I MISS ABOUT MY MOM
  1. I miss her creativity and willingness to do anything funny and/or crazy.
  2. I miss her laughing at me and thinking I am the funniest person in the world. It really helps a person's self esteem.
  3. I miss her blackness...ebonics, Tyler Perry movies, etc.
  4. I miss her inviting us over to watch our favorite TV shows and eat her food.
  5. I miss her calling me for my opinion on what she should do in her newly acquired spare bedroom.
  6. I miss her house, particularly her blue walls in the family room.
  7. I miss her crazy driving when she sees and estate sale.
  8. I miss how she acts when Uncle Wayne would come over
  9. I miss her helping me out when I feel overwhelmed
  10. I miss her making gagging sounds when you say "let's eat at ____" instead of just saying a simple "no".

By the way: Picture 1) my mom smiling when I made her re-take a picture for not smiling. Picture 2) My mom (left) and my aunt as the Hottie Police at my bridal shower. Picture 3) Mom and dad at halloween...doesn't she make the best costumes?

Christmas 2007

I know these postings are out of order...but I had to include this:

Our friend Brook invited us to a wonderful ugly sweater party this year. So Tyler and I searched for the best we could find, as shown below:

As you can see, Tyler's wool womans sweater features penguins and polar bears around the collar, and as for me, a festive sweater dress, with shoulder pads of course. We were pretty upset that we didn't win the competition. I blamed it on the fact that no one there knew us and it was a popularity contest rather than a true sweater contest. And yes...Tyler does have a beard (not anymore actually).

This party theme sparked an interest in my family. We decided that it would be oh so wonderful to gather joyously around the fireplace while we all sip hot chocolate and share sophisticated laughter. We also thought it would be delightful to capture this moment and share it with all of our loved ones, which is exactly what we did.

I love my family.

...Tyler has a history of ugly sweaters. He and his roommates decided to share some Christmas joy two christmas' ago as Neil, Ron, Donald and Wade. Special.

Isn't Christmas magical? Apparently.

The joy of living downstairs...

Last night Tyler and I has the pleasure of listening to our upstairs neighboor sing "Everything I do, I do it for you" to his wife. Wow. He sang the wrong words, might I add. Tyler and I have made predictions of what we might think these people look and act like...like what genre these people would catergorize into. It sounds like they move furniture all day long and stomp around there house. I often hear techno and/or opera gay Josh Groban crap. She vacuums at 11:30 at night sometimes. That's normal. And my favorite thing about them: They like to giggle before bed time. I am sure they are super-nice, just loud, and sappy.

Or maybe he looks and acts like this:

Advice to neighboor: Leave it to Bryan Adams

Vertigo

I woke up today feeling a lot like Lucille II from one of my favorite shows "Arrested Developement". You see, Lucille II suffers from Vertigo. When I awoke this morning the room was spinning and I kept falling over to the left. It's ok, you can laugh. I did. I don't feel sick but I feel like I have lost my sense of balance. I am at work however, I am sticking out. Family: Aren't you proud of me? I know Tyson would be. I admire Tyson's robot-like self discipline. Does sickness get him down? NEVER! What a guy.

Deer Hunting

So, Tyler and I went for a little walk around campus tonight and found 5 deer just roaming around eating. We ran home to grab a camera and hurried back to the spot where the deer were sighted. Of course they had moved on...but leave it to Tyler to be determined and treck through a foot of snow following the deer tracks til he found them, and we did! Watch this video...it's boring...but we think it's cool.

And here we have still life:

Wings in the city

I have been thinking about home a lot and about the food I miss, like Ted's, Mango's and going to Wings Express with my brother...I have been on the look-out and have seen no wing resturants in this town. It's kind of sad to know that I can't fix my addiction in a 5-10 minute drive. I know this is so white-trash of me...but so be it. I love them. I can't deny it. Tyler and I decided that it was necessary to know at least one wing joint somewhere around our area. We got on the web and found a decent looking place called Wing Coop. Sadly...it is in Salt Lake. But did that stop us? NO WAY! We hopped in the car today and made the journey to have what some would call (some as in Gordon Weir) "bonding food". It took us a while to find the place...we were starving and starting to get irritable (oh, wait...that was just me...) but when we stumbled into The Wing Coop it was all worht it. They had multiple flavors...not that I ever venture out...but the fact that they have options means that they know their stuff. They even had sides like cole-slaw (Tyler's fav.), fries, baked-beans...the good stuff. It was all delicious! I felt satisfied.

We were so close to fun down-town SLC that we traveled a little further to see where the "magic" happened for us. SLC was where we went when I went up to visit Tyler before we were even really dating. There was an elderly lady named Dorothy who worked at the top of the JS Memorial Building who told us to send her a wedding announcement...we weren't exactly dating yet...he hadn't touched me yet even...I don't know how she knew. We were hoping she was there so she could predict our first pregnancy...ha! We just hung out basically...and were completely outraged to find out that the ZCMI Center Mall closes at 5:00 on Saturdays...what the? who? Anyway--we only cared because we wanted a treat.

So...all you friends that live in the same town as us...let me in on any wing places you know of that might be closer...please!

...the new job...

I started my new job and luckily I enjoy my fellow work associates. Ingrid and I sit, chat, and surf the interenet most of the day...it's kind of a slow job right now. I get to inspect the cleanliness of all the students everyday. People really like me because I come in there house and tell them that they owe us money because they can't keep a house clean. I just love it. Not to mention I get to climb stairs to get to their apartments...which anyone who knows me well knows that stairs are not my friend. Not to mention the freaking cold weather...enough said. Oddly enough, I look forward to the inspections because it is something to do. Sad. But all in all, it is a good job. And I would like to throw out a special thanks to Kelli for chatting online with me for hours everyday. Without you...I don't want to think about it.

MOVING!

Well, it's official, we made the move successfully. It took us three days to get here due to complications...but we got to spend a night in VEGAS!

It was kind of a scarry trip because we ran into a snow storm and had to pull off for the night, delaying our trip for the third day.

My parents helped us move--and I am so grateful that they did. It is certainly an adjustment living away from all of the family for the first time. I miss everyone...but I am doing well...so don't worry about me! And thank you to everyone who helped us pack.
